Appalachian Trail - Georgia to Maine - 2,056 miles. Many day hike options. Easy to strenuous. 8.1 mile approach to Springer Mtn. terminous from behind the visitor center at Amicalola Falls State Park. Take Hwy 52 East out of Ellijay square for 20.6 miles. Amicalola State Park is on the left.

Benton McKaye Trail - 80 miles to the Tennessee state line connects with the Appalachian Trail.
Ellijay Amicalola Falls - Short walk to scenic 729 ft falls, the highest in Georgia. May also hike up the steps along the falls for a great workout. Hotel style lodge with restaurant, cottages, and campsites. Follow Hwy 52 east of Ellijay approx. 20.6 miles from the square.
Brasstown Bald Trails / Brasstown Wilderness - Georgia's highest mountain with summit at 4,784 ft. Brasstown Bald at the high end and Track Rock Gap at the low end. Near Blairsville, Hiawassee and Helen. Seasonal hours.
Take GA 515 to Blairsville, south on US 129, then east on GA 180 to reach the Brasstwon Bald trailhead.
To reach the Track Rock trailhead, take US 19-129 North 2.6 miles past Vogel State Park, then turn rt. onto GA 180 for 2.5 miles, then turn left onto Town Creek School Rd. for 5.3 miles, then turn right onto Track Gap Road.
Ellijay Bear Creek Trail - in the Cohutta Mountains. 6.6 mile loop follows Bear Creek. Look for the Gennett Poplar with a 17'9" circumference a few yards to the left of the trail after the second creek crossing.
From the Ellijay square, travel 52 West 5.1 miles, turn right onto unmarked paved county road at Bear Creek Campground sign. Proceed 5 miles, then turn rt. onto FS 241 (unpaved) for 2 miles to the parking area.
Ellijay Mountaintown Creek Trail - features streams and cascades. 5.6 mile trail.
From the Ellijay square, travel 52 West 9.5 miles, turn rt. on FS18 (at the Lake Conasauga Recreation Area sign) for 3.5 miles then turn rt. on FS68 for 6 miles. Turn rt. at the intersection onto FS64, drive 6.9 miles to the trailhead.
Ellijay Carters Lake - 1.2 mile loop on the lake trail and 2.0 miles on the Grassy Mountain trail.
From the Ellijay square, travel 52 West 9.5 miles, turn rt. on FS18 (at the Lake Conasauga Recreation Area sign) for 3.5 miles then turn rt. on FS68 for 6 miles. Folow FS 68 to the left at the three way intersection, drive 5.3 miles to picnic and swimming area.
Ellijay Lake Conasauga Trail and Grassy Mountain Tower Trail- beautiful lake and scenic views. 1.2 mile loop on the lake trail and 2.0 miles on the Grassy Moutain trail.
From the Ellijay square, travel 52 West 9.5 miles, turn rt. on FS18 (at the Lake Conasauga Recreation Area sign) for 3.5 miles then turn rt. on FS68 for 6 miles. Folow FS 68 to the left at the three way intersection, drive 5.3 miles to picnic and swimming area.
Ellijay Fort Mountain State Park - 3,712 acre park has 4 hiking trails and 30 miles of biking trails. on Hwy 52 west of Ellijay, 17.5 miles from the square.
Blue Ridge Hemp Top Trail and Jacks River Trail- Cohutta Wilderness. Great winter views. 6.2 miles on Hemp Top and 16.7 miles on Jacks River Trail. From US 76/GA 5 in Blue Ridge, travel north on GA 5 for 3.7 miles. Turn left on Old Hwy 2. Continue for 10.5 miles (road becomes gravel at 9 mile point) to the major Forest Service intersection at Watson Gap. Turn right onto FS22. Drive 3.6 miles to the trailhead at Dally Gap.

Copperhill, TN Ocoee Whitewater Center - Home of the 1996 Olympic course. Great hiking trails and areas to watch the kayakers and rafters braving the rapids. Take Hwy 5 north out of Blue Ridge. Turn left on Hwy 68 then left on Hwy 64. Follow the signs to he Olympic center.
